Shop Fronts
Most shop front windows use laminate glass, which conforms to BS 6206 Class B (for 6.4mm thickness and up; 4.4mm is rarely used, and conforms to BS 6206 Class C). Laminate glass is essentially two pieces of float glass bonded together by a PVU interlayer. The primary purpose of this glass is to maintain security and integrity upon impact, by distributing the force of the impact across the glass surface, while the PVU interlayer holds the glass panes together, creating a distinctive “spider-web” appearance.
Laminate glass can usually be replaced on the same day, as our engineers usually carry this glass on their vans. However, large and/or thicker than normal panes will usually be a next day service, dependant on glass dimensions.
We will be able to give an estimated ETA for the glass over the phone for you. We can install glass for practically any installation, from windows to office partitions.
Leatherhead boarding up services
If you’ve had an accident late at night, we won’t be able to replace your glass immediately. In this case, we will board up your window with plywood boards to maintain security, and arrange for the glass to be fitted once it is available. We operate a 24-hour* rapid-response Leatherhead boarding-up service, to give you peace of mind when you need it most. We can also board-up large Leatherhead commercial premises when the owner has vacated the building, or is in the process of a large-scale refurbishment, where the building needs to be protected against squatters and other intruders.
